Wendy, I'm Home
From a master novelist and a master director, The Shining is not only the most compelling adaptation of a Stephen King novel (really, other than "It", are there any that weren't junk?), but as a child of the 80s it reserves a special place in my brain as the most terrifying movie ever. Slow terror, the kind that doesn't need CGI and tamed velociraptors jumping out at you every 3 seconds.
With this one I played around with a home-made matte to imitate the black bars we see on wide screen adaptations.
Jack here hung at the Iron Press in Costa Mesa terrifying everyone until some saint finally bought him and restored peace to the wall.

My first painting from one of everyone's favorite shows, featuring some of the most compelling characters ever created for TV.
I was lucky enough to snag a ticket to the public premier of Breaking Bad's final episode. We watched it projected onto the side of a mausoleum at Hollywood Forever cemetary with most of the cast and a couple thousand close friends.

Once I got the hang of it, painting on a pizza box was actually pretty awesome, who knew? Johnny's Saloon recently started serving some killer pizza (no joke, its GREAT) and wanted to commemorate it by hosting an art show with no rules except that it had to be done on a pizza box. Outlaw country was the obvious choice. This piece sold and I won a night of guest bartending, TBA

The Graduate
This piece was inspired by another movie viewing at Hollywood Forever cemetery, put on by Cinespia. This is one of those moments in film that is good on its own but SO much more incredible when seen with a couple thousand other people in silence. In a graveyard.
He was hung up at a fun little art show that Hek threw at Fashion Island and purchased by a guy who's favorite movie happened to be The Graduate.

Shortly after the Wax on, Wax off art show, Hek threw another show called Must Be This Tall To Ride, with a Disney theme. As a lifelong So Cal resident, I think part of appreciating Disneyland and all things Disney lies in the history which was not always shiny. This was my second painting in many years and now resides in Chandler, AZ.
